I am 23 years old and just graduated from CSU, Chico. I am currently in the credential program so I can become a high school agriculture teacher. I am from Humboldt County and have been around agriculture all my life. My grandparents own a sheep ranch in northern California. This is where I spent my school vacations and long periods of free time.
My parents had me join 4-H when I was eight years old. I started with a lamb project at the Humboldt County Fair. Within a few years, I was showing market lambs, hogs, and steers at both Humboldt fairs. I learned a lot about responsibility and hard work through these projects and how to save money for college. By my 11th year of showing through 4-H and FFA, I had saved enough money to pay for all my tuition, books, and a semester of studying abroad in Australia.
I am writing this blog as a fun way to remember the places I have been and to encourage me to keep exploring. I love to travel and hope this will keep me grounded and focused on the things that are important. I also hope this will become a tribute to the great farmers and ranchers out there who work extremely hard to feed us each day.
